Payout Statements

Click Payouts in the navigation, then a payout. The payout page shows the amount, the payout date and its status, then the statement: the totals, and a table of lines for each category.

Total Meaning
Gross collections The payments released to you on this payout.
Platform fees ElasticPay’s fees on those payments.
Returns Payments taken back by a chargeback or a late return.
Fee refunds Fees ElasticPay gave back on returned payments, where your account refunds them.
Adjustments Always zero today.
Net payout Gross collections, less platform fees and returns, plus fee refunds. This is what we pay you.

Each line names the payment it comes from, so you can click through to the payment.

A chargeback or late return after a payout

Section titled “A chargeback or late return after a payout”

A payment can be taken back after we’ve paid it out to you: a card chargeback, or a direct debit the customer’s bank returns late. The payment stays on the payout that paid it. The return, and any fee refund with it, goes on your next payout, and comes off that payout’s amount.

On that payout, the Return and Fee refund tables have a Detail column:

Detail Meaning
Chargeback (reference) The customer’s card issuer took the payment back. The reference is the one on our bank statement.
Late return (code and reason) The customer’s bank returned the direct debit after it had cleared, for example “R6 Insufficient funds”.
Paid out in payout on date The payout that paid you this payment. Click it to see that payout.

The payment’s own page links both: Included in payout for the payout that paid it, and Reversed in payout for the one that took it back.

A payment taken back before we paid it out has its return on the same payout as the payment, or an earlier one, and no Paid out in link.

When returns are more than your collections

Section titled “When returns are more than your collections”

If a return is more than you’ve collected since your last payout, your balance with ElasticPay goes below zero, and we don’t pay out until new collections cover it. The next payout then includes the return, and pays you the difference.

A chargeback is in the daily payment failures email we send at 7am Sydney time, in its own Chargebacks section. If you use webhooks, you get the payment_intent.charged_back event when we record it; you can ask us to stop the email.
